MM75 History

Mario Montessori was Maria Montessori’s son and closest collaborator. He helped his mother develop the Montessori Method, accompanying her in her travels, translating for her, assisting in her training courses and helping her with the writing and editing of her books. After his mother’s death in 1952, he became General Director of the Association Montessori Internationale, working closely with his wife Ada until his death on 10 february 1982.

In 1973, on the occasion of Mario Montessori’s 75th birthday, a group of his friends and colleagues established a fund to assist the professional training and preparation of Montessori trainers and called it ‘Mario Montessori 75 Fund’.

Since then, the fund created in Mario Montessori’s name has supported the Training of Trainers Programme and its participants.
